Students begin this project by considering previous contributions to the religious sounds collection on ATLMaps. They then reach out to local institutions to get permissions to record a religious ritual. Before the recording, students must properly learn to use recording equipment. During the recording, students take note of their surroundings as well as the processes involved in the ritual. Afterwards, students develop metadata and contextual interpretation for their digital recordings. (The resources needed for this assignment, as written by this teacher, include: Digital recording device, Metadata processing software, access to a religious institution)
